Women's World Cup 2023: FIFA launches tender for TV rights in Germany

FIFA has launched the tender for the broadcasting rights in Germany for the Women's World Cup 2023 (to be held in Australia and New Zealand from 20/07 to 20/08/2023) on 12/01/2023.

"Media companies wishing to participate in the tender process can request the invitation to tender by email by writing to Germany-Media-Rights@fifa.org. Bid submissions to FIFA must be received by 10:00 CET on 14/02/2023," said FIFA.

"The most recent edition - the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 - attracted a record audience of over 1.1 billion viewers and smashed domestic viewing figures in many territories. Women’s football has attracted significant audiences in Germany recently, with a top average audience of 17.9 million for the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 final when Germany played hosts England (2-1 victory for the Lionesses).

  • The public broadcasting groups ARD and ZDF held the free-to-air broadcasting rights in Germany for the Women's World Cup 2019.
    • The OTT Organised in France, from 07/06 to 07/07/2019, in nine cities: Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris (Parc des Princes)
