CIES: Athletic Club, team of the Top 5 which uses the most players trained at the club in 2022-23

Athletic Club Bilbao (LaLiga Santander) is the club with the highest percentage of minutes played by players trained at the club since the start of the 2022-23 season in the European Top 5 leagues (Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy), according to the CIES Football Observatory's Weekly Post, published on 18/01/2023.

With 56.5% of minutes played by club-trained players (total accumulated by 13 players), the Basque club, which previously topped the ranking in 2021-22, is ahead of Olympique Lyonnais (52.1%, 11 players, Ligue 1 Uber Eats) and Real Sociedad (40.1%, 17 players), followed by another French club: Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (39.6%, 9 players).

Among the top 20 are nine LaLiga Santander clubs, five from the Premier League, four from the Ligue 1 Uber Eats, two from the Bundesliga and none from the Serie A TIM. At the bottom of the table, a total of 18 clubs gave less than 1% of the available playing time to club-trained players, 11 of whom did not play a single minute.
