USA: Telemundo acquires exclusive Spanish-language media rights for national team games (2023-2026)

The Spanish-language pay and free-TV group Telemundo (owned by US broadcasting group NBCUniversal) has acquired the exclusive Spanish-language broadcasting rights in the United States to the USA men's and women's national teams over the 2023-2026 cycle, announced NBCUniversal and US Soccer on 17/01/2023. 

"The new agreement will feature more than 20 US national team matches each year across Telemundo, Universo, Peacock - presented by the digital content brand Tplus - and Telemundo's digital platforms, consisting of National Team friendlies (including premium US matches against Mexico), the SheBelieves Cup, and other key events involving the women's and men's national soccer teams, such as select CONCACAF Nations League matches," said US Soccer.

The agreement began with the broadcast of the New Zealand - USA women's friendly (0-4) on the pay-TV channel Universo, the streaming platform Peacock and the Telemundo app, on Wednesday 17/01/2023. These broadcasting rights were previously held by the pay and free-TV group TelevisaUnivision over the 2015-2022 cycle.
