Sponsorship: Cazoo (car sales) will not extend with SC Freiburg or Aston Villa FC beyond 2022-23

Cazoo, a British online used car retailer, will not extend its role as main shirt sponsor of SC Freiburg (Bundesliga) beyond the 2022-23 season, according to specialised media on 23/01/2023. The brand is expected to be replaced by the German bike rental service JobRad, currently an official partner (2^nd level) of the German club, from 2023-24.

The British company had previously announced a "wind down of its operations" in Europe (outside the United Kingdom) due to financial difficulties on 08/09/2022. Since then, Cazoo has announced the end of its two shirt sponsorship agreements in Ligue 1, with Olympique de Marseille (€5m per season, replaced by the shipping company CMA CGM) and LOSC Lille, at the end of the 2022-23 season.

While it continues to operate in the UK market, the platform has confirmed that it will not continue as the main shirt sponsor of Aston Villa FC (Premier League) after 2022-23, on 11/01/2023.
