esports: average audience down 16% for the first week of the 2023 EMEA LoL Championship (LEC)

Audiences for the first week of the 2023 LEC winter split, the first segment of the 2023 EMEA League of Legends season, played from 21-23/01/2023, were "worse than the first week of LEC Spring 2022 in every aspect," announced Esports Charts, an esports audience tracking website, on 24/01/2023.

Among the audience figures reported by Esports Charts:

• The average audience was 294,500 viewers on the various Twitch and YouTube channels that broadcast the competition, down 16% from the first week of the 2022 season, which drew an average of 350,600 viewers.

• A peak audience of 464,189 viewers was observed during the clash between the Spanish team Koi and the British team Fnatic on 23/01/2023. This is 12% less than the peak audience recorded for the G2 Esports - Excel match during the first week of the LEC 2022 (527,567 viewers).

• In total, 5.62 million hours of competition were watched during the first week of the 2023 LEC winter split, 7% less than in 2022 (6.02 million hours watched).
