Transfers: Chelsea FC (€555m), the biggest spending club over the last two transfer windows (CIES)

With €555m spent in the summer 2022 and January 2023 transfer windows, Chelsea FC (Premier League) is the club that has spent the most on transfer fees (including bonuses) over the period, according to the CIES Football Observatory's "Weekly Post", published on 25/01/2023.

The London club heads a podium made up entirely of Premier League clubs, and is well ahead of Manchester United FC (€272m) and West Ham United FC (€237m). In 6th place, with €203m spent over the period, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) is the first club in the ranking that does not play in the English league. Barça is preceded by Nottingham Forest FC (€233m) and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (€203m).

Paris Saint-Germain (€191m), the only Ligue 1 Uber Eats club in the Top 20, is ranked 7th, ahead of FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga, €185m), the leading representative from the German championship. SSC Napoli, the only Serie A TIM club in the Top 20, is ranked 20th (€108m) and is behind AFC Ajax (15th, €125m, Eredivisie), the biggest spender from outside the European Top 5.
