CONMEBOL/Concacaf: a strategic agreement to create a new club competition from 2024

CONMEBOL and Concacaf have signed a strategic collaboration agreement regarding the Copa America, the Gold Cup and the creation of a new club competition from 2024, announced both confederations on 27/01/2023.

Regarding existing competitions:
• The 2024 Copa America, co-organised by the two bodies, will be held in the summer of 2024 in the United States, which already hosted the competition in 2016. It will include 16 countries: 10 from CONMEBOL and six from Concacaf. The latter will qualify through the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League.
• The 2024 Gold Cup for women's national teams will see Concacaf invite the four highest-ranked CONMEBOL nations from the 2022 Women's Copa America (Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay). Eight teams from the Concacaf zone will also take part in the competition, bringing the total number of participants to 12, down from 16 in 2021 (including guest Qatar).
