"We (our concerns) were received by the bank. I expect the payment between 17 and 20/11/2014," says Gervais Martel, president of RC Lens (Ligue 1), during a press briefing at the club's training centre on 06/11/2014. The expected €2.5m will be paid "by the Bank of Azerbaijan, which was recapitalised by the state. All this was controlled by French and Azeri lawyers. These are guarantees worth more than words or writing," said the president of the Lens club.

"I went to Baku (Azerbaijan) in the last 48 hours because the payment of €4m expected by our shareholders for October has not been honoured in full (only €1.5m of the amount has been paid). I needed confirmation that the guarantee granted by the Bank of Azerbaijan can be exercised and honoured," said Gervais Martel the day before, 05/11/2014.
