Asia: Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa re-elected by acclamation as AFC president until 2027

Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, AFC president and sole candidate, has been re-elected by acclamation for a four-year term at the 33^rd Asian Football Confederation (AFC) congress in Manama (Bahrain), on 01/02/2023.

The Bahraini Sheikh became AFC president on 02/05/2013, after a corruption scandal that led to his predecessor, Mohamed bin Hammam (QAT), being banned for life mid-term. Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa completed that term before being re-elected for four years in 2015 and again in 2019.

"As we look ahead, let me assure you that the AFC will continue to place the development of our Member Associations and Regional Associations at the heart of all our efforts. I must also convey my gratitude to my esteemed AFC executive committee members who have served alongside me these past four years for their commitment to steering Asian football through its most difficult crisis in modern history," said Sheikh Salman during the congress.
