England: Manchester City FC accused of breaching Premier League financial regulations

"In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City FC to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4," announced the English League on 06/02/2023.

The Mancunian club is accused of having broken several rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, including those requiring it to transmit "accurate financial information giving a true and fair view of the club's financial position, in particular with regard to its income (including sponsorship income), related parties and operating costs." Also targeted, for certain seasons, is the lack of information regarding the remuneration of the head coach and players, as well as the failure to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations. Since the 2018-19 season, Manchester City's lack of cooperation with the Premier League in its investigative work has been highlighted.
