2030 World Cup: Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay & Chile joint bid for the centenary edition

Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile have officially declared themselves candidates to host the 2030 World Cup, during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Argentinean Football Association (AFA) in Ezeiza, near Buenos Aires (ARG) on 07/02/2023.

"We dream of hosting this Cup again in its centenary. All of us South Americans have a lot of passion, we live football that way. We know that this is a very big commitment and that we must show the world that Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile are up to the job of hosting the 2030 World Cup," said Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA.

The first ever World Cup was held in Uruguay from 13 to 30/07/1930. The hosts beat Argentina 4-2 in the final at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo (URU) on 30/07/1930.

"We have a team, we have great belief. We are convinced that FIFA has an obligation to honour the memory of those who came before us, who made it possible to hold a world tournament 100 years ago.
