UK: 37.6 million TV viewers watched women's sports in 2022 (vs 32.9 million in 2021)

37.6 million unique viewers watched women's sport in the UK in 2022, up from 32.9 million in 2021, a record high for the territory, according to research by the Women's Sport Trust published on 08/02/2023.

Among the key figures released by Women's Sport Trust:

• The average viewing time of women's sport on UK television was 8 hours 44 minutes in 2022, compared to 3 hours 47 minutes in 2021 (+131%).

• 13% of the hours of sports coverage on the main sports channels (BBC One, BBC Two, Sky Sports Main Event, Channel 4 and ITV) were devoted to women's sport in 2022, up from 10% in 2021.

• 16 million unique viewers watched the Barclays Women's Super League in 2022 (co-broadcast by Sky and BBC).

• 1.8 million people watched the 2022 Women's Euro but did not watch the 2022 World Cup.

• 8.4 million people watched live Barclays Women's Super League matches in 2022, but did not watch any live Premier League matches, compared to 5.1 million people in 2021.
