Super League: European Leagues & the ECA opposed to the new project presented by A22

"The European Leagues are very surprised by today’s statement from A22 which refers to an open consultation process and its results. The body officially representing the interests of 40 domestic competition organisers coming from 34 countries in Europe and 1092 clubs never met with A22 and were not consulted," said the European professional football leagues association, on 09/02/2023.

A22 Sports Management, the Madrid (ESP) based company responsible for promoting the controversial European Super League project, presented a new version on 09/02/2023, which it defines as the "preliminary results of a comprehensive dialogue with stakeholders across Europe on the future of club football." Among the proposed ideas for the new project:
• "A European football league that is open, based solely on sporting merit, multi-divisional
• with 60 to 80 clubs
• a minimum of 14 guaranteed European matches per club
• a minimum of €400m per year to non-participating clubs, social causes, and investment in grass roots."
