"In response to the letter dated 03/11/2014 sent by the CAF (African Football Confederation), Moroccan authorities, at a meeting held on the same day, affirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco maintains its request for postponement of the CAN 2015 (scheduled for 17/01 to 08/02/2015) to 2016," announced the Moroccan Ministry of Sports on 08/11/2014, because of the risks posed by the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

CAF confirmed its decision to maintain the CAN (African Cup of Nations) in 2015 with the initial dates, while calling on Morocco to clarify its final position later than 08/11/2014, following a meeting with the Moroccan Ministry of Sports and FRMF (Royal Moroccan Football Federation) on 03/11/2014.

"A meeting of the executive committee will be held on 11/11/2014 in Cairo (EGY, headquarters of the African confederation) to take the necessary decisions," stated CAF on 03/11/2014. "The decision (to withdraw from hosting the CAN) is dictated by health reasons because of the serious threat of Ebola and the risk of its spreading," stated the Moroccan Ministry of Sports.
