Premier League: EA Sports (video games) partnership to be extended for 6 years & £480m (press)

EA Sports, an American video game publisher belonging to the Electronic Arts group, is set to extend its partnership with the Premier League for a further six years (2023-2028) for a total of £480m (€543.7m), according to the British daily The Times on 13/02/2023. The new deal was reportedly approved by the 20 English top flight clubs on 10/02/2023.

The American company has been a "lead partner" (1^st level) of the Premier League for the past six years (2016-2022), and as such, has been paying the league £30m (€33.9m) annually. The new agreement, which would see annual payments of £80m (€90.5m) made to the Premier League, with £4m (€4.53m) split between the 20 English top flight clubs, would therefore increase the value of the contract by 2.6 times.

EA Sports is strengthening its sponsorship strategy as its agreement with FIFA expires in July 2023. The next iteration of the American publisher's football video game, which has been committed to the body since 1993, will be named "EA Sports FC", as announced on 10/05/2022.
