Paris 2024: Stade de France occupied from 01/12/2023 by modernisation works & then the Olympic Games

No football or rugby matches or concerts may be held at the Stade de France from 01/12/2023 until the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, announced the French media on 13/02/2023.

The stadium in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis, Paris, FRA) must undergo compliance, modernisation and transformation work before the Games. For example, the athletics track will be extended from eight to nine lanes, "5G" will be installed to improve communication and additional big screens will be installed.

In 2024, the Stade de France (77,083 capacity) will be an "Olympic and Paralympic stadium designed to host rugby sevens matches, Olympic and Paralympic athletics events and the two closing ceremonies, as well as the two closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games (on Sunday 11/08/2024) and the Paralympic Games (on Sunday 08/09/2024)," said the Cour des Comptes (French Court of Accounts) in its report on the organisation of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games presented to the French Parliament on 10/01/2023 (document available to download).
