UEFA: TV rights accounted for between 4% and 59% of the revenues of the Top 20 leagues in 2021

Revenues from TV rights (excluding UEFA) accounted for between 4% and 59% of the revenues of the Top 20 European leagues in 2021, according to UEFA in the 14^th edition of its annual club licensing benchmarking report - "The European Club Footballing Landscape" - published on 10/02/2023.

Premier League clubs are the most dependent on TV rights revenue (59%), ahead of Serie A TIM (54%) and LaLiga Santander (52%) clubs, while the Russian Premier League (4%) is last in this ranking.

The Liga Portugal Bwin, where TV rights are marketed individually, is by far the league with the largest gap in TV rights revenue between clubs, with the top club earning 12.8 times more than the median revenue of the Portuguese League clubs. On average, this ratio is 2.3 for the 27 European leagues that market these rights collectively. "This is due to change in 2026 when TV rights are planned to be sold collectively (in Portugal)," states UEFA.
