CAN 2015: CAF maintains the competition in Jan-Feb 2014, but it will not take place in Morocco

"The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken note of the response of the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Kingdom of Morocco in a letter dated 08/11/2014 requesting the postponement of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. (...) Therefore, having firmly and unanimously notified on 03/11/2014 its decision to keep the competition on the dates indicated (17/01/2015 to 08/02/2015), the Executive Committee confirmed that the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2015 will not take place in Morocco," stated the African Confederation on 11/11/2014.

CAF confirmed the CAN in 2015 will remain with its initial dates, while calling on Morocco to clarify its final position no later than 08/11/2014, following a meeting with the Moroccan Ministry Sports and FRMF (Royal Moroccan Football Federation) on 03/11/2014. Morocco had again requested the postponement of the competition from 2015 to 2016 because of the "serious threat of Ebola and the risk of its spreading," on 08/11/2014.
