Champions League: Amazon extends broadcasting rights in Italy for the 2024-2027 cycle

Amazon has extended its exclusive broadcasting rights in Italy to the Wednesday night Champions League fixture for the 2024-2027 cycle (18 matches per season), announced the US e-commerce group on 20/02/2023.

The matches will continue to be broadcast on the Prime Video platform. Amazon currently holds the exclusive rights to the Wednesday night fixture (16 matches per season + the European Super Cup) for an estimated €80m per season over the 2021-2024 cycle.

Over the 2021-2024 cycle, the private Italian TV group Mediaset will also broadcast 121 matches per season (all except Amazon's), including 17 free-to-air matches (the Tuesday fixture + the final) and 104 matches for pay streaming, for an estimated €45m per year. The pay-TV operator Sky Italia broadcasts 121 matches per season for pay-TV (all matches except Amazon's) at a cost of over €100m per season.
