Formula 1: DAZN renews broadcasting rights in Japan for the 2023-2025 cycle

The OTT sports platform DAZN has renewed its full and now exclusive broadcast rights in Japan to the Formula One World Championship for the 2023-2025 cycle (three seasons), announced Formula One Group on 20/02/2023.

The platform had been co-broadcasting the competition in Japan with the private free-TV group Fuji TV since the 2018 season and until the end of the 2022 season. DAZN had sublicensed the rights from the pay-TV group Fox Sports Asia, the original holder of Formula One TV rights in 26 Asian countries from 2016-2022, for the 2018-2021 cycle.

Following the announcement of the closure of Fox Sports Asia in April 2021, the rights held by the regional subsidiary were redistributed, in October 2021, for the end of the 2021 season and the 2022 season to other Asian broadcasters. On this occasion, DAZN and Fuji TV extended their Formula 1 broadcasting rights in Japan until the end of the 2022 season.
