FC Barcelona/suspicions of corruption: 40 of LaLiga's 42 clubs "deeply concerned"

"The majority of LaLiga clubs expressed their deep concern about this Negreira/FC Barcelona case, which they consider to be of the utmost seriousness, so the proposal for a joint statement received the unanimous support of all LaLiga SmartBank clubs and all LaLiga Santander clubs except for two, who objected to this joint statement for different reasons," announced a delegate committee of the Spanish league on 21/02/2023. According to Spanish media, Real Madrid CF, is the other club, along with Barça, not to have participated in this joint statement.

This statement comes five days after the Catalan radio station Ser Catalunya revealed that the Spanish National Prosecutor's Office had opened an investigation into "corruption" involving DASNIL 95 SL. The company, owned by José Maria Enríquez Negreira, is alleged to have received €1.4m from Barcelona from 2016 to 2018, when he was vice-president of the Spanish Technical Committee of Referees (CTA).
