Argentina: government paid €157m in 2014 to allow broadcasting of the championship on free-TV

The Argentine government paid 1.667bn pesos (€157m) to the AFA (Asociación del Fútbol Argentino, the Argentine Association) in 2014 under the programme for TV "Fútbol para Todos" ("Football for All"), stated the Argentine newspaper El Cronista on 10/11/2014. This amount is 18.2% higher than the initial estimate by the Argentine government in earlier in 2014 (1.41bn pesos, or €133.1m).

The "Fútbol para Todos" programme was established by the government of Cristina Kirchner in 2009. It allows Argentinian viewers free access to the Argentine first and second divisions, as well as the matches of the Argentine national team, mostly on public free-TV channel Pública.
