European Club Association: a reform of the ECA's governance adopted by its executive committee

• Continued growth in the number, representation and decision-making involvement of ordinary members to around 130 clubs
• The possibility for women's clubs to become ordinary members based on the performance of their teams
• The opening of positions on the board to associated members (around 160 clubs) for the first time
• The expansion of the ECA network to 200 additional clubs.

These are the main objectives of the reform of the European Club Association's governance structure approved by its executive committee meeting in Milan (ITA) on 01/03/2023. These proposals will be submitted to a vote at the body's general assembly to be held in Budapest (Hungary) on 27 and 28/03/2023.

The ECA represents 245 European clubs in 2022-23. Currently, each club wishing to become a member for a four-season cycle must be playing in the men's first division at the time of joining. Clubs are divided into ordinary and associated members, with ordinary members having sole voting rights at the general assembly and the ability to nominate candidates for the executive committee.
