IFAB: trials on the communication of VAR decisions to the public confirmed

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) "confirmed the decision taken at the recent annual business meeting (ABM) to trial the broadcasting of video assistant referee (VAR) review decisions in-stadium and to a live television audience," announced the body following its 137^th annual general meeting held in London (ENG), on 04/03/2023.

"The 12-month trial exclusively relating to VAR decisions at FIFA tournaments began at the Club World Cup 2022 in Morocco earlier this year, and it will also be implemented at the U20 World Cup in Indonesia in May to June 2023. A decision will then be made as to whether the trial will be continued at other FIFA tournaments later this year," explained IFAB.

"The executive committee (of the FFF) has reached out to the IFAB to request that France be allowed to be an experimental Federation for referees to wear a microphone from the beginning to the end of the match.
