FIFA: FBI "stepping up" its investigation and wants access to the Garcia report

FBI (U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations) agents are "stepping up" the pace of a corruption investigation into senior leaders of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), according to American law enforcement officials speaking on the condition of anonymity to the American news outlet CNN on 13/11/2014.

FBI agents based in New York (USA) have been investigating senior members of FIFA for three years, and the FBI will seek access to the FIFA inquiry, written by Michael J. Garcia, the American lawyer and chairman of the Investigatory Chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee, regarding the bidding process of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The FBI declined to make an official statement to CNN.
