FIFA is expected to abandon its sponsorship agreement with Visit Saudi, the Saudi Arabian national tourist board, for the Women's World Cup 2023, following protests from the host country federations (Australia and New Zealand), the NGO Amnesty International and several international players, including Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe (USA), according to the Australian daily The Sydney Morning Herald on 06/03/2023.

Although never made official by the International Federation, this partnership project had pushed the Australian and New Zealand Football Federations, "disappointed" not to have been consulted, to ask FIFA "for urgent clarifications" according to the American media The Athletic on 01/02/2023. Faced with the extent of the protests, the body would like to revise this agreement and possibly assign it to another Saudi entity. A decision is expected before the 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda, on 16/03/2023.
