Wolverhampton Wanderers FC: a turnover of £165.7m (-14.6%) & net loss of £46.1m in 2021-22

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (Premier League) have posted a turnover of £165.7m (€194.6m) for the 2021-22 financial year (01/06/2021 to 31/05/2022), down 14.6% compared to 2020-21 (£194.1m/€225.7m), according to the club on 06/03/2023.

The club's matchday revenue increased from £0.1m in 2020-21 to £13.3m (€15.6m) in 2021-22 thanks to the end of Covid-19 restrictions at UK venues. Commercial revenue was also up 64% to £12.8m (€15m) from £7.8m (€9.1m) the previous year.

By contrast, TV rights revenue (excluding revenue from the Premier League) fell by 48% to £14.4m (€16.9m, compared with £27.7m/€32.2m in 2020-21). A drop linked to the deferral of certain revenues from the 2019-20 season to the club's accounts in 2020-21 (the club played the 2019-20 Europa League quarter-finals in August 2020). Revenue redistributed by the Premier League fell from £141.6m (€164.7m) to £110.4m (€129.6m) in 2021-22, for the same reasons.

The club also posted a net loss of £46.1m (€54.1m) at the end of 2022, compared with a net profit of £18.4m (€21.4m) the previous year.
