Leicester City FC: a turnover of £214.6m (-5.1%) & net loss of £92.5m in 2021-22

Leicester City FC (Premier League) posted a turnover of £214.6m (€252m on 31/05/2022) for the financial year 2022 (01/06/2021 to 31/05/2022), down 5.1% compared to 2021 (£226.2m/€264.1m), announced the English club on 07/03/2023.

"This drop in revenue is principally due to the reversal of accounting timing differences in the recognition of revenue relating to the Covid-delayed 2019-20 season, whereby 20% (£32.9m) of revenue from the 2019-20 season was recognised in the 2020-21 financial year," explained Leicester City. Redistributed Premier League revenue, was the only revenue source to fall sharply, from £170.8m (€198.6m) to £129.8m (€152.4m) in 2021-22.

UEFA revenue increased to £21.5m (€25.2m) from £13.7m (€15.9m) in 2020-21, while matchday revenue rose to £21m (€24.6m) from less than £1m (£0.5m) the previous year due to Covid-19 pandemic-related restrictions on hospitality at English venues.

In addition, the club's net loss increased sharply from £31.2m (€36.3m) in 2021 to £92.5m (€108.6m) in 2022.
