2015 Cup of Nations: Equatorial Guinea to host instead of Morocco, from 17/01 to 08/02/2015

Equatorial Guinea will host the Orange Africa Cup of Nations) in 2015 from 17/01 to 08/02/2015, announced CAF (Confederation of African Football) on 14/11/2014.

Morocco, which was to host the 30th edition of this competition, reiterated, on 08/11/2014, its request for postponement of the tournament to 2016, because of the risks associated with the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The executive committee of CAF, who had taken, on 03/11/2014, a "strong and unanimous decision to keep the competition on the dates indicated," confirmed that the 2015 Cup of Nations would not take place in Morocco on 11/11/2014.

  • Automatically qualified for the CAN 2015 as organisteur country, Equatorial Guinea had been disqualified in favour of Mauritania on 03/07/2014, for fielding a player from Cameroon who had "never submitted a change in association procedure with the FIFA Players' Status Committee."
