Real Betis Balompié: an architectural competition for the renovation of the stadium (€70m budget)

Real Betis Balompié (LaLiga Santander) has launched an international architectural competition for the renovation project of the Stadio Benito Villamarin (Sevilla, ESP), the budget for which is estimated at €70m and for which work is due to start in June 2024, announced the club on 07/03/2023.

The work, which is expected to take 18 to 20 months to complete, will include the construction of a roof, a new stand, an upgrade of the stadium's exterior and the creation of new hospitality and event spaces. The capacity of the stadium (60,721 capacity), which is owned by the Sevillian municipality, is not expected to change. "The idea must be innovative and integrate the business model developed by Real Betis Balompié to complete a Stadium that is alive 365 days a year, with special importance of a wide range of leisure and entertainment experiences, both on matchdays and on every other ordinary day, with a prominent role for new technologies, sustainability and inclusion," said the club.
