Iberdrola, a Spanish company specialising in the production, distribution and supply of electricity and natural gas, extended its contract with the RFEF (Real Federación Española de Fútbol, the Spanish federation) through the Euro 2016 tournament in France, stated the partners on 13/11/2014. Iberdrola has been associated with the federation since 2009.

The group maintains a presence at the training sessions of the Spanish national team, as well as image rights to the federation. The Spanish energy giant wants to support its business with this visibility, as the company saw its net income fall 39.9% to €328.3m for the third quarter of 2014. Iberdrola has not offset the negative effect of new regulatory standards in Spain, namely new taxes on energy production and reduction of subsidies to renewable energy.

  • Iberdrola has commissioned the financial company JPMorgan Chase to sell soem of its assets in renewable energy in order to finance an acquisition in the United States, on 06/10/2014.
  • The Spanish telecom service Movistar has also extended with the RFEF until 2016, on 11/11/2014.
