Italy/Supercoppa Italiana: four "EA Sports Supercups" to be held in Saudi Arabia from 2024 to 2029

"Four of the next six editions (from 2024 to 2029) of the "EA Sports Supercup" will be held in Saudi Arabia, and it has been decided that the 2024 final will be played in a four-team format," said Lorenzo Casini, president of the Lega Serie A, following the League's general assembly on 13/03/2023.

The Italian Supercup, which hitherto saw the Serie A TIM champions face the previous season's Italian Cup winners, is set to be played between the Italian top flight champions and runner-up, as well as the previous Italian Cup winner and runner-up in 2024 (with an option to substitute in the event of one club being represented twice).

Three of the five Italian Supercups from 2019 to 2023 had already been held in Saudi Arabia, following an agreement signed in Zurich (SUI) between the Lega Serie A and the Saudi Arabian General Sports Authority. The agreement was worth about €20m, according to the Italian media, and guaranteed each participating club between €3 and €3.5m.
