FIFA: "$152m invested in the Women's World Cup 2023, including $110m as prize money" (G. Infantino)

FIFA's investment in the Women's World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand will be $152m, a record sum for the competition, announced Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, at the 73^rd Congress of the body in Kigali (Rwanda) on 16/03/2023. Of that $152m, $110m will go to the players of the 32 participating teams as prize money, compared to $15m for the Women's World Cup 2015 (in Canada) and $50m for the 2019 edition (in France), both of which saw 24 teams competing (versus 32 in 2023). In addition, $11.3m will be distributed to clubs releasing players and $30.7m to member associations in order to prepare for the competition.

The Swiss-Italian, who has been president of FIFA since 26/02/2016, was re-elected by acclamation for a four-year term (2023-2027) at the 73^rd Congress of the international Federation, which was attended by 208 of its 211 member national federations.
