Italy: Esselunga (supermarkets), premium partner of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) from 2023

Esselunga, an Italian retailer and supermarket chain, has become a premium partner of the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio for "the coming years" from 2023, announced the Italian Football Federation on 20/03/2023. The agreement covers all of the FIGC's national teams: men's, women's, youth, futsal, beach soccer and esports.

The Italian brand has the status of premium partner, i.e. the third level in the body's sponsorship hierarchy. "Playing sports and a balanced diet are fundamental for promoting and maintaining a correct lifestyle and inspire many of Esselunga's initiatives. The decision to support the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio responds to the desire to give a new impulse to further promote Italian products around the world," explained the Federation.

Esselunga is already involved in sport in Italy: it became the first official partner of the national sponsorship programme for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on 26/07/2022.
