England: Everton FC accused of breaching Premier League profitability & sustainability rules

"In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred an alleged breach of the League's profitability and sustainability rules by Everton FC to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4," announced the English league on 24/03/2023.

In particular, the Liverpool club is alleged to have breached the Premier League's Article E.49, which limits clubs' financial losses over a three-year period to £105m (€119.3m), at the end of the 2021-22 season. Everton had announced a net loss of £139.8m (€153.2m) at the end of the 2019-20 financial year, followed by a net loss of £120.9m (€140.9m) at the end of 2020-21 (the 2021-22 accounts have not yet been published).
