Fan experience/Basketball: FIBA to use LED glass floor for the first time in an official competition

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) will use LED glass flooring for the first time in an official competition to project video elements at the 2023 Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain (05-13/07/2023), announced the body on 27/03/2023. This new glass surface will be used for all the games in the final phase at the Palacio de los Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid (ESP).

The new technology, known as "LumiFlex" and supplied by ASB GlassFloor, incorporates LED lines underneath its glass surface and offers a video floor "allowing for interactive applications as well as an enhanced show staging with additional options for advertising. The flooring can also feature the ability to add player tracking to the video floor, making it possible to display live stats and athletic achievements on the floor, providing fans with enhanced interaction and better engagement," explained FIBA.
