BSkyB now becomes "SKY" after the acquisition of 100% of Sky Italia and 87.45% of Sky Deutschland

The British pay-TV group BSkyB confirmed the acquisition of its Italian counterparts Sky Italia (100% of capital) and German Sky Deutschland (87.45%), on 13/11/2014.

The BSkyB brand trademark, used since 1990, now disappears and the brand is now called SKY. The new group "will be the first entertainment company in Europe with 20 million customers in 5 countries (UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy)," said SKY on 13/11/2014.

  • The name change to "British Sky Broadcasting Group plc" to "SKY plc" is subject to shareholder approval at the annual general meeting scheduled for 21/11/2014.
  • The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the symbol SKY since 14/11/2014.
