France: use of pyrotechnic devices to be tested in stadiums until March 2025 (decree of 29/03/2023)

• Establishment the conditions for the implementation of an experiment, over a period of three years, aimed at allowing the organisation of pyrotechnic displays by supporters within a predetermined, supervised and secure framework
• Work towards the elimination of the illegal and unsafe use of pyrotechnic devices in stadium stands
• Submission of an evaluation report to Parliament no later than six months before the end of the experiment to put an end to it, take permanent measures authorising the use of pyrotechnic devices in sports venues under certain conditions, or extend the experiment

These are the provisions of decree no. 2023-216 of 29/03/2023 relating to the experimentation of the use of pyrotechnic devices in sports venues (document available to download in French), in application of the second paragraph of article L. 332-8 of the sports code, published in the Official Journal on 29/03/2023. This decree comes in application of the Law n° 2022-296 of 02/03/2022, of which article 54 allows the experimentation to be extended until March 2025.
