FC Barcelona: two lines of credit renewed with banks Caixabank & Banco Santander until 2026 (€49.5m)

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) has renewed two lines of credit with Spanish banks Caixabank and Banco Santander. These two credit facilities, which were due to expire on 30/04 and 15/05/2023 respectively, will now extend until the same dates in 2026, announced the club on 30/03/2023. The one with Banco Santander is worth €32.5m, while the one with Caixabank is worth €17m, for a total of €49.5m.

This double extension "strengthens the club's position regarding its ordinary operating activities and is testament to the confidence in the entity among banking institutions," said FC Barcelona, who are also in the process of finalising their financing plan for the Espai Barça (a project to renovate and extend the club's facilities). The club is expected to take out a €1.5bn loan from Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan at an interest rate of around 6%, with repayment spread out to 2057, according to the Spanish press.

At the end of the financial year 2022 (from 01/07/2021 to 30/06/2022), FC Barcelona had a net debt of €608m.
