Newcastle United FC: a turnover of £180m (+28.4%) & net loss of £70.7m in 2021-22

Newcastle United FC (Premier League) has posted a turnover of £180m (€208.6m as of 30/06/2022) for the financial year 2022 (01/07/2021 to 30/06/2022), up 28.4% compared to 2021 (£140.2m/€163.1m, from 01/08/2020 to 30/06/2021, or 11 months), according to the club's annual accounts published on 31/03/2023.

"These are the first figures reflecting the club's financial performance since it was acquired by an ownership group comprised of PIF (Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund), PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports and Media (two UK-based private equity funds) in October 2021 and the results therefore include nine months under the new shareholders' ownership," explained Newcastle United.

Matchday revenue rose to £27.5m (€31.8m) in 2022, up from less than £1m the previous year, thanks to the end of Covid-19-related restrictions on fans entering English stadiums during the 2021-22 season. TV rights revenue grew from £119.3m (€138.7m) to £124.1m (€143.8m) for 2021-22, while commercial revenue reached £26.5m (€30.7m) in 2022, up from £17.6m (€20.4m) in 2021.
