France/LFP: initiatives to reduce & offset the carbon footprint of the 2023 Trophée des Champions

The Ligue de Football Professionnel has presented a "carbon contribution plan" to offset the impact of the 2023 Trophée des Champions (which will take place on 05/08/2023 in Bangkok, Thailand), on 05/04/2023. In addition to initiatives directly related to the organisation of the event, the body "will participate in a reforestation project managed by the Forestry Society and thus contribute to the restoration of a carbon sink."

"Organised every year since 2008, the Trophée des Champions aims to raise the profile of French professional football and its clubs on the international stage. The stakes involved in organising this match are key to the development of French football. Consequently, and in line with its CSR strategy, the LFP will make every effort to minimise the carbon footprint of this event, in particular by:
• Reducing the number of pre-event inspections;
• Rationalising the number of people involved in the event;
• Favouring scheduled flights and airlines committed to carbon contribution programmes," explained the LFP.
