2021-22 Champions League: €133.7m paid by UEFA to Real Madrid CF & €119.9m to Liverpool FC

Of the 32 clubs that competed in the group stage of the 2021-22 Champions League, the winners Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) received the highest amount from UEFA, with €133.7m, according to the European Confederation's Financial Report 2021-22 approved at its 47^th Ordinary Congress in Lisbon (POR) on 05/04/2023.

The Spanish club is ahead of runners-up Liverpool FC (Premier League, €119.9m) and FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga, €109.6m). Half of the money received by Real Madrid was generated by their sporting achievements (€67.3m), 27.2% by their UEFA coefficient ranking (€36.3m), 11.6% by the participation bonus (€15.6m) and the remaining 10.7% by the market pool (€14.3m). FC Sheriff Tiraspol (MDA) received the lowest amount from UEFA, with €23.6m.

UEFA paid out €2.002bn to the 32 clubs in the group stage. Of this total, 25% (participation bonuses) or €500.5m was divided equally between the 32 participants. The differences in the amounts paid to the clubs can be explained by several variables:
