Italy/Serie A TIM: AGCOM approves guidelines for marketing of TV rights over 5 years (2024-2029)

"The Authority's board of directors approved, at its meeting on 04/04/2023, the guidelines governing the marketing of Serie A TIM broadcasting rights for the 2024-2029 cycle (five seasons)," announced the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) on 05/04/2023.

The AGCOM had previously approved the guidelines for the sale of TV rights for the 2024-2027 cycle on 14/12/2022. The guidelines approved for the 2024-2029 cycle are "similar" to those approved in December 2022. At that time, the Authority required an allocation of rights that would allow "the widest broadcasting of matches to users, ensure service compliance and transmission quality as well as guarantee the reading of audiences according to the parameters indicated by the Authority. The guidelines also introduced the obligation for the Lega Serie A to guarantee the exercise of the right to report by providing footage from the stands."
