ARD and ZDF extend their broadcasting rights for German national team friendlies until 2017-18

SportA, the media rights subsidiary of the German public free-TV broadcasters ARD and ZDF, will extend its partnership with the DFB (Deutscher Fußball-Bund, the German federation), the parties announced on 18/11/2014.

The agreement will continue to cover friendlies played by the German men’s and women’s national teams, as well as the 3.Liga (German 3^rd division) and the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga Allianz (top German women's division) until the end of the 2017-18 season.

• "SportA has acquired a lot of very attractive TV rights and in return, (with this partnership) we guarantee that our teams and competitions are accessible to the widest possible audience," said Helmut Sandrock, general secretary of the DFB on 18/11/2014.
• The qualifying matches of German men's national team for Euro 2016 (France, 10/06 to 10/07/2016) and the 2018 World Cup (Russia) are distributed in Germany by the private free-TV channel RTL.
• Domestic distribution rights to the DFB Pokal (German Cup) are currently held at by ARD and the pay-TV group Sky Deutschland.
