CAF: call for tenders until 26/04/2023 to appoint a marketing agency for the 2023-2025 cycle

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched a call for tenders to appoint a marketing agency to help secure new commercial partners for the CAF competitions to be held during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, on 04/04/2023.

Interested suppliers and service providers have until 26/04/2023 to submit their bid. The designated agency will be awarded the exclusive marketing rights for the sponsorship packages for all CAF competitions, though the African body reserves the right "to approach other potential clients through its commercial sales team."

Sportfive (then named Lagardère Sports) was in charge of managing the media and marketing rights of the main CAF competitions between 1993 and 2019. Initially bound until 2028 (12-season agreement for a guaranteed minimum of $1bn / €945m), CAF terminated this contract on 08/11/2019 following a 2017 ruling by the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) declaring the agreement "null and void". Lagardère was accused of violating the Egyptian competition law, as it had been appointed as the exclusive agency of CAF "for an uninterrupted…
