Eight new members were elected to the ICAS (International Council of Arbitration for Sport, the governing body of the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), for four year terms from 01/01/2015 (until 01/01/2019), announced the ICAS on 18/11/2014.

The ICAS, based in Lausanne (SUI), is composed of 20 members who are judges or lawyers in international business. The body manages the administration and finances of the CAS, as well as safeguarding the independence of the CAS mission.

"For the first time, the ICAS will be composed of an equal number of men and women" (John D. Coates, president of the ICAS)

  • "All eight new ICAS members have a very impressive background and their experience will be beneficialto the institution.
  • I am also very pleased that the widespread geographic representation of ICAS is strengthened, which guarantees a fair representation of the different juridical cultures for the benefit of this world supreme court for sport.
  • It is worth noting that, for the first time, the ICAS will be composed of an equal number of men and women."
