"The Bureau of the FIFA Council has confirmed Argentina as the host of the FIFA U20 World Cup 2023. The decision follows the removal of the original tournament host, Indonesia," announced the International Federation on 17/04/2023.

"FIFA has decided, due to the current circumstances, to remove Indonesia as the host of the U20 World Cup 2023," announced the body on 29/03/2023. The governor of the island of Bali (southern Indonesia), a predominantly Hindu territory, had stated that he refused to host the Israeli team on his soil. Indonesia, a Muslim country of 277 million people, does not officially recognise the State of Israel.

• The U20 World Cup will be played as originally scheduled from 20/05 to 11/06/2023. It will bring together 24 teams divided into six groups.
• The official draw for the competition, which was originally due to take place on 31/03/2023, will now be held at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich (SUI) on Friday 21/04/2023.
