Italy: Florence City Council approves Coverciano Technical Centre renovation project

Florence City Council (Tuscany, ITA) has given the green light to the restructuring of the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano, which since its inauguration on 06/11/1958 has been both the "Home of the Italian national football teams" and a "true university of Italian football", where the main technical training courses and referees' meetings are held, announced the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) on 20/04/2023.

"Innovation, landscape integration, sustainability and energy efficiency" are the main objectives of this modernisation project, which has been drawn up on the basis of UEFA guidelines ("Best Practice Guide to Training Centre Construction and Management" and "Sustainable Infrastructure Guidelines") and presented by "Federcalcio Servizi Srl", the Italian Federation's property management company.

Two municipal commissions of Florence, the Sports Commission and the Urban Planning and Heritage Commission, will meet on Wednesday 26/04/2023 to discuss this project, which will result in a total extension of 7,530 square metres, including 2,800 square metres of parking.
