Sony: launch of PlayStation Vue, Internet TV service, in the first quarter of 2015

Sony will launch the PlayStation Vue, an IPTV service -- digital television broadcast via the Internet -- in the first quarter of 2015, announced the Japanese electronics group on 13/11/2014.

PlayStation Vue users will be able to "access live TV and on-demand content without a cable or satellite service," said Sony. TV programs within the last three days will be available, and users can choose the ones they want to keep for 28 days.

  • Playstation Vue, tested in closed beta to users of the game consoles PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in the US cities of New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles since the beginning of November 2014, offers 75 channels, including:
    • CBS, the Discovery channel, the Fox channels (FX, Fox Sports, National Geographic and more), NBCUniversal (NBC, E!, Syfy, CNBC and more), Viacom (MTV, Nickelodeon and more)
  • Sony has yet to release the price of the PlayStation Vue service, but says there will be no commitment and no additional equipment is necessary.
