FC Barcelona: €1.45bn financing plan for the Espai Barça project agreed

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) has closed the financing of Espai Barça, a major project to modernise the club's infrastructure, with a total of 20 investors and worth €1.450bn, announced the Catalan club on 24/04/2023.

Initially valued at €600m in 2014 under the presidency of Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Espai Barça project had been the subject of an update presented by the new management on 17/10/2021, with a budget revised upwards to €1.5bn (+150%). In an online referendum held on 19/12/2021, Joan Laporta then obtained a favourable vote from socios in order to obtain full power for the club "to implement whatever actions it deems necessary or convenient to procure funding for the Espai Barça project, which under no circumstances may be greater than €1.5bn."
